On saturday early in the morning we started a trip to the beach of Warnemünde to have a picnic with my two kids, my niece and a friend. The weather was fine, not too hot yet and not too cold, nearly perfect. The only one which missed, was the sun. Well, you can't have everything and I think I'm a little bit spoilt by the sunshine which we had in the last weeks. The seawater had the perfect temperature with 22 degree and the waves were great and bigger than usual. The kids were all square and had a lot of fun on the beach and in the water. Just Paul choosed to stay out of the water and to play with his sand toys because of the big waves which were a bit fishy for him. At least the kids entered the very popular climbing frame at the beach. On the way back we ascended the top of the lighthouse and could enjoy the view over the beach and the promenade of Warnemünde. Except for the occasional one we all had an all around harmonious saturday morning ...
We have an unbelievable and abnormal heatwave in Germany. I can't imagine that we had that hot temperatures about many weeks in July before. Now it's the third week non-stop with temperatures about 30 degrees in the shade, partially until 40 degrees. So every kind of coolness is welcome. We visited my parents and the kids had a lot of pool fun.
We all had a lot of backyard fun on a hot day. Paul tried to play some badminton with me and with himself. Surprisingly he had a huge stamina in the process. Max dabbled in painting with chalk.
Paul used that carton as a bed compensation. Unfortunately, the carton was a little bit too small for all of his stuffed animals and himself. So he couldn't stretch his feeds.
We all love strawberries with sugar. Especially Max and Paul are huge fans of that red fruit. They can't get enough. I think we eat approximately 125 pounds every year during the strawberry season.
